This page is for customers who have already purchased a pwrTune ECU reflash for their 2017 X3 and would like to upgrade that tune to a 2018 spec. If you will be sending in your already reflashed ECU back to us to have it upgraded to a 2018 format tune the charge will be a flat $100 not including a fuel pump which you can purchase from us or source yourself.

For these tunes to work you will need a 2018 X3 Turbo R fuel pump BRP part number 709000979
. These tuning stages will not work with a stock 2017 fuel pump. As an alternative your 2017 stock fuel pump could be modified, or you could run an aftermarket fuel pump, and add an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

Additional 2018 upgrades include a new intercooler and fan, which are not required to add additional performance. A higher performance head pipe / catalytic converter which you would need to attain the exact Stage 1 performance numbers. And an improved belt, so if you want to run BRP belts you should get that belt. We will not be selling these additional 2018 upgrades, they are not essential to attaining the 2018 wheel horsepower performance increases.

Tuning stages 1-3int are meant to be used with a good quality premium fuel with a minimum octane rating of 91 and performance at an average of 15.5 pounds of boost. Your wastegate crack pressure should be checked and set for stock 6lb to 7lb, if in doubt add a pound. Also there is no need for larger fuel injectors. Stages 2+ I would suggest performance clutching, KWI is the most knowledgeable clutching experts with the X3.

If you are looking to upgrade your 2017 X3 to the Stock 2018 X3 Turbo R spec we can do that for you. Select the "2018 Stock Turbo R" tune and we can reformat your ECU to the stock 2018 format, you will need the 2018 Turbo R fuel pump. No need to stop at the dealer!

We have a Stage 1 tune for an all stock machine (stock exhaust) that makes a very impressive 163.5 real wheel HP which is an increase of 40.7 HP over a stock 2017. If you want these exact performance numbers you will need the 2018 X3 Turbo R head pipe / catalytic converter. For the 2017 stock head pipe / catalytic converter expect HP numbers to be down 1-2HP.

Our Stage 2 is tuned for use with a modified exhaust, either a cat delete pipe running the stock muffler. Or inversely a performance muffler running the stock cat pipe. Both have proven to be a similar performance mod removing some of the stock exhaust restriction. At 165.4 real wheel HP and an increase of 42.6 HP over stock.

For a full performance exhaust that removes the stock catalytic converter and has an open performance muffler we have a Stage 3. With an increase of 45.4 HP over stock this tune runs about 168 rear wheel HP. We have tested this with a Trinity Full System, our own in house made Bullet race muffler and the new Treal Performance 3" system. Power gains are very similar over all the open performance exhausts tested with slight low end TQ gains in favor of the 3" and really loud Bullet. Overall max HP is very very similar with any open performance exhaust we have tested.

Now for the best power on pump gas and my favorite our Stage 3int tune setup to be used with out X3 Velocity Intake System. At well over 170 rear wheel HP these are numbers we didn't see with the 2017 X3 until you started running high boost and high octane fuel. It was easy with the 2018 Stage 3int tune to get a HP number over 177 doing a "hero run" on a cooled down car, the 173.7 rear wheel HP number you see on the dyno graph is representative of no BS on an X3 that is up to full temp and had been run over and over.

Free Warranty/Recall Flashback Protection

If you have a problem in the future, clutch blows up, EPS stops working, and you gotta take it in for warranty work. Or a factory recall comes up and you need to take your machine in?? No worries, we've got you covered with Free Warranty/Recall Flashback Protection. What does this mean? Basically if you have an issue and need your stock ECU back to stock we will flash it back to stock for you no charge. How? When you send in your ECU first we will read your stock flash and save the information under your name. If you need it "back to stock" in the future you can send your ECU back, we will put your stock flash right back on your original ECU. If the dealer needs to connect to your ECU it will be yours, and stock, and never looks like it had been touched! Matching serial numbers, matching everything. And, we will even send it back free of charge Priority Shipping within 24 hours of receiving it. After the work is done, send it back to us (again) and free of charge we will flash it back to a pwrTune full performance tune and send it back to you. This does only apply to your first instance (one Recall and/or one Warranty Issue), after one time the fee will be $20 each flash and you'd have to pay for shipping.
